I just tried this cool site called tineye.com that was mentioned in the Istock forums.
It a site that lets you search the internet for a specific photo, and it returns pages with that photo.
I can see this being useful for finding our Istock photos in use.
So, I gave the site a whirl, and guess what?? I found one of my favourite photos from Phillybuster being used for a pdf document on Stockholm University. Pretty cool! Here's a screen capture of the front cover of the pdf...
Just thought I'd share a link to my new Valentine's day themed photos on Istock. These are photos taken with my new Bees that I'm lovin'!!
I couldn't figure out how to link my UBB banner here, so I'll just provide a regular old link...
Valentine's Day photos
What do you think? Not too bad for my first attempt eh?! :)
Thanks to everyone who has provided feedback and tips. Much appreciated.
On this eve of Christmas, I'd like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.
No matter what festival you celebrate, Hanukkah, Christmas, or simply the fact that it is December 25th, remember to take in all the joys of the season, and spend time laughing with your loved ones. Laugh a lot, give warm hugs, and take a few photos to document the memories. :)
Merry Christmas!
Wow, we are in the middle of a winter storm. They've been calling for anywhere between 20-40 cm of snow, and we sure are getting it. Today is the perfect kind of day to stay inside, bake Christmas cookies (I'm the official taste tester :) ) and watch Christmas movies. I'm not looking forward to shoveling all that snow. It is at least up to my knees, and higher towards the end of the driveway where the snow drifts are.
So far, two of my snowflakes have been accepted. Yay!!!
fact: No two snowflakes are the same. There is actually a guy who proved this, or at least is trying to. :)
I took Mari's advice, and stepped away from the computer, and guess what???... I picked up the camera and inspiration hit. Just like magic, I had ideas floating around in my head. We put up our Christmas tree last night, and unpacked all of our Christmas decorations and ornaments. As soon as I saw these red snowflakes, I knew that I had to shoot them. :)
It was snowing so perfectly this morning, that I decided to shoot outside. I placed the snowflakes on top of the snowbank in my front yard, and just snapped away. Part of me had stock in mind, and part of me was just happy to be shooting again. It has been so long since I picked up my camera...too long actually.
Here are a few of the photos from today. Hope you like them. Some are pretty straight forward, and there are a few experimental ones too! Sometimes you have to step outside your comfort zone and try new things. This is the only way to learn something new right?! :P Thanks guys for all your comments and advice!!!

I've been thinking about getting a macro lens, but I can't really decide.
I've been thinking about the Nikon 60mm, the Tamron 90mm or the Nikon 105mm VR. They are all 1:1 and 2.8.
I'll mostly be shooting objects and flowers and stuff. Not really flying bugs and such.
Does anyone have experience with any of these lenses? or comparable focal lengths? Thoughts? Thanks.
Music-wise, what was the first 45, single or download you bought?
Submitted by Paddy Melt Wagon.
Hmm, I don't remember the first 45, or album I bought, but the first two CDs I ever bought were Madonna's Immaculate collection, and Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum.
It's got such a catchy beat that I can't stop listening to it. For some odd reason though, I want to run out and buy a new Ipod Nano?? Weird. :)
